Server Settings

When you have installed Tasks Pro™, there are a few settings you must specify and several options you can set based on your tastes. We'll go through them in the order they appear on the Server Settings page.

Server Settings

Default Language
This sets the default language used in your installation of Tasks Pro™. Your users still have the option to choose a different language if they want to.
Default Language for Mobile/PDA Access
This sets the default language used in the Mobile/PDA interface of your installation of Tasks Pro™. Your users still have the option to choose a different language if they want to.
Tasks Pro™ URL
Set this to the URL of your Tasks Pro™ installation (http://www.example.com/tasks_pro/ - do not include the 'index.php' file). This is used in e-mail notifications and reminders, RSS feeds, etc.
PHP iCalendar URL
Set this to the URL of your PHP iCalendar installation (http://www.example.com/taskspro/phpicalendar/ - do not include the 'index.php' file). If PHP iCalendar is enabled, this is used to open the Tasks Pro™ generated iCalendars in PHP iCalendar.
Domain to be used in cookies
If you aren't familiar with the way cookies work, you can leave this blank and Tasks Pro™ will make an educated guess (works in 80%+ situations). If you are familiar with the way cookies work, you can enter the domain to be used in the Tasks Pro™ cookies. To have the cookies work on both www.example.com and example.com, you'd set the value to: .example.com.
Path to be used in cookies
Again, if you aren't familiar with the way cookies work, you can leave this blank and Tasks Pro™ will make an educated guess (works in 80%+ situations). If you are familiar with the way cookies work, you can enter the path to be used in the Tasks Pro™ cookies. To have the cookies restricted to www.example.com/taskspro/, you'd set the value to: /taskspro/. Most of the time, this can be left blank.
E-mail address used to send admin e-mails
Set this to a generic address or the address of an admin. It is used to send out e-mails containing new passwords and daily e-mail reminders. It is also used as the 'from' address if the person assigning a task does not have their e-mail address set in their profile.
E-mail subject prefix:
This can be left blank. If it is set, all e-mails sent by Tasks Pro™ will be prefixed with this string. This can be useful for creating e-mail filters. Example: if you set this to Tasks Pro, the subject of an e-mail notification could look like [Tasks Pro] Task 'Order Office Supplies' (#123) has been assigned to you
Color Theme
Set this to the theme you want to use as the default for this installation of Tasks Pro™. Individual users can choose a different theme in their general.
Password for CRON Jobs (e-mail reminders, activating tasks)
This password is used in the URL when setting up CRON jobs for sending daily e-mail reminders and activating tasks. This should not contain an & or ? character.
Enable daily e-mail reminders
If this is checked, users can choose to receive daily e-mail reminders of their overdue, upcoming and high priority tasks.
Enable automatic e-mail notifications
If this is checked, e-mail notifications will be sent when new tasks and notes are assigned (and updated by another user).
Enable option to select users to notify when a task is saved
If this is checked, e-mail notifications can be sent to selected users whenever a task is saved.
Enable task templates
If this is checked, users (with permission) can create task templates and create new tasks from templates.
Enable tagging
If this is checked, users can add tags to tasks and notes and browse tasks and notes by tag.
Enable recurring tasks
If this is checked, users can create recurring tasks.
Maximum number of occurrences for a recurring task
This is used as the limit for the number of occurrences for a recurring task.
Users can only see groups they are a member of
If this is checked, users cannot see any group they are not part of. If this is not checked, users can make tasks visible to groups they are not members of.
Track time spent on tasks
If this is checked, users can choose to enable time tracking in their Preferences.
Track billable tasks
If this is checked, users can choose to enable the 'Billable' checkbox for tasks in their Preferences.
Type of authentication for RSS Feeds and iCalendars
If 401 authentication does not work on your server, you can choose to use URL Based Authentication instead.
Enable PHP iCalendar
If this is checked, links to open PHP iCalendar will be enabled on the Sidebar and user and group lists in your Preferences.
Show task hierarchy in lists, e-mails, RSS feeds and iCalendars (slows down performance)
If this is checked, the task hierarchy for sub-tasks is shown with the task data in lists, e-mails, RSS feeds and iCalendars. This makes it easier to see where a task appears in the task hierarchy, but it adds overhead and slows down performance.
Enable adding files to tasks/notes
If this is checked, users can upload files and attach them to tasks and notes if they have permission.
Maximum file size allowed (in bytes, max: [the max set in your php.ini]):
Set this to the maximum file size you wish to allow users to upload and attach to tasks and notes.
Check for new releases
If this is checked, Tasks Pro™ will connect to crowdfavorite.net to check for a new release of Tasks Pro™ on login (if your user has permission to configure Server Settings) or view of the About screen.
Check for new beta releases
If this is checked, Tasks Pro™ will connect to crowdfavorite.net to check for a new beta release of Tasks Pro™ on login (once every seven days, if your user has permission to configure Server Settings) or view of the About screen.
